I’m Ian Kerr. I’m the Employer Engagement Director for the growth company we’ve organized today’s event. We’re very keen to bring organizations and migrants and employers together to help employers really understand the opportunities that the migrant population presents in terms of skills and experience and loyalty.
The Growth Company
The growth company is a social enterprise. We like to do things differently, we like to try and see things differently. We like to try and help employers to do the same, to think about different candidate groups, more diverse candidate groups than perhaps they’ve considered before. Because we believe that everybody has something to offer and sometimes just getting stuck in a certain way of doing things means that you miss an opportunity. You miss certain ways of doing things which will attract more candidates to your business who bring more innovation, more skills and more loyalty and longevity in terms of them staying to work for you.
Think different
So that’s really what today is all about. It’s about thinking slightly differently and in the process helping people who are coming to a new country, having to deal with a huge mental change and also want to work and want to give and obviously earn some money. I think today is going really well. We’re really pleased there are so many people here.
