I am Janine Smith and I’m the Director of the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub well, the Business Growth Hub has been in existence for 12 years and we are here to support Greater Manchester improve its productivity, its inclusivity and what it does for supporting the Green Agenda. And we do this through supporting any business that’s based in Greater Manchester to help them to improve, to grow, be more efficient and to help them access all the support that exists to help them in that journey. So today we are running an AI event so this is all about how businesses in Greater Manchester can understand the benefits of artificial intelligence, what actually artificial intelligence is and how businesses can use this for themselves to improve productivity and efficiency. We were in central Manchester with the business growth hu and about 100 people that turned up listen to us and we were basically talking about the power, the opportunity and some of the existential threats of AI for smes and how this is going to change everything we do, how we engage with our customers, how we recruit, how we operate, our businesses and the winners of tomorrow are going to be those that embrace AI before the competition does.

My biggest takeaway from the event today is that you have to take the time out to learn about AI and how you can implement it into your business.

Today’s event was a fantastic event organized by the Manchester Growth Hub, helping more people understand the power and potential of AI within their business. And there was so many great questions from different people. I think it’s mindset, i think forget the word AI, just think of it as tool. If there was a new, powerful tool that you could use, just think to yourself like how you can embrace that. And there’s so many applications that could help drive growth.

So today’s event was really about unlocking AI for organisization, so it’s educating on what’s out there not just now existing but in the future as well. So theres lots of options out there for growing the business through AI and such as a lot of generative AI solutions such as Chat. GBT. Google Board and then going from there you know the solutions on machine learning and also.
Looking at partnering we’ve educational partners that we’ve got, so it’s like the Choking Innovation Catalyst and other partners who can help accelerate AI as well across Great Manchester.
